I originally came to the Ark with my brother, Chong, after our owner passed away. My brother found his new home, and I'm waiting to find mine. I have been adopted and returned more than once, and would really like to find my permanent place of residence. I have no experience with dogs but have lived with cats and done fine with them. 		Emily Female Domestic Short-Hair Currently living at the Hastings shelter Hi. I am Emily, a quiet, shy, calico tabby cat. After I have the chance to get to know someone, I am a very sweet gal who enjoys being petted. I do not like to be picked up. I have done okay with the cats that I have lived with in the condo here at the Ark. Due to my quiet and shy nature, I would prefer a home without young children. Please keep in mind that any change in my life takes me time to work through. I was adopted into a home and even though they had me for six months, and put forth the effort to get me used to my new home, I was still very shy. They felt I was not happy, so I was returned. 		Esme Female Domestic Short-Hair Currently living in foster care Hi! I'm Esme, a beautiful black cat with gold eyes and a tiny patch of white on my chest. I am very friendly and loving. My favorite thing is to sit in a lap and be petted or have my belly rubbed. I was living outside, trying to fend for myself, when some nice young men who worked at a shop in my neighborhood befriended me. They gave me food and lots of attention, but none of them could take me home. I was on my own for quite awhile and, of course, eventually became pregnant. When I disappeared for about a week, they figured I probably had my kittens and was hiding them and protecting them from harm. But I showed up again for food and when I saw the door to the shop was slightly open, I decided to take a chance. I went out to get my babies and carried them in, one by one, to the only place that I knew might help me. Luckily, my instincts proved to be right and a nice young man called the people at Animal Ark. They knew it wouldn't be safe for us to stay at the shop where they use some pretty strong chemicals that would be hazardous to us. Animal Ark was able to place us in a foster home, where we all thrived with the love and attention and good food we received. I was a great Mom, very nurturing and loving with my babies, and I was so happy to have found a safe place for them. My owners abandoned me in a field, not too far from Animal Ark, on the 4th of July. Luckily, one of the volunteers that was here walking dogs found me and brought me into the shelter.
