It is a horrifying and tragic story of animal abuse that caught the nation's attention. On a cold night in December, a little orange tabby was glued to a Minnesota highway and abandoned. Eventually, he was spotted by his rescuers, who initially thought the cat, now known as Timothy, had been hit by a car. What they discovered when they stopped to help the kitten was far worse.

Timothy had been intentionally glued to the highway. His nose, front paws and hind quarters were affixed to the pavement. Tissue damage due to a combination of the glue, frostbite and hypothermia caused the pads of the kittens feet to tear off when his rescuers went to pick him up. Timothy was taken to Second Chance Rescue in South Dakota where he was provided with emergency veterinary care and sent into foster care.

Unfortunately, due to the severity of the injuries, this lovable, friendly kitten - who purred right up till the end - died just 5 days later.

The tragic and unnecessary death of this innocent little kitten has ignighted a national firestorm from animal advocates wanting to see justice done in this case. More than $10,000 in rewards have been offered for information leading to the conviction of the perpetrator(s) of this crime. Additionally, it is bringing about an increased awareness that people who commit crimes against animals often commit violent crimes against people.
