Kathy Bauck Found Guilty of 1 Count of Animal Cruelty and 3 Counts of Animal Torture
On Tuesday, March 23, 2009, following emotional closing arguments in the trial of accused dog abuser Kathy Bauck, the jury returned guilty verdicts on 4 charges. After a relatively short deliberation, the jury found Bauck guilty of one count of animal cruelty and 3 counts of animal torture. Sentencing is scheduled to take place at the Otter Tail County Court House on April 24 at 3:00.

Testimony from Bauck and some of her relatives suggesting ongoing problems at the "Pick of the Litter" kennel left many court watchers wondering if additional charges could be filed against Bauck's husband, Allan, and her daughter, Corinne. Kathy Bauck told the Court that some surgical procedures are still being performed by Allan, even after the charges against her had been filed. Additionally, Allan testified that he kills dogs by shooting them.

Several news agencies have reported that Kathy transferred ownership of "Pick of the Litter" to Allan and Corrine.

Sentencing will be held on April 24th, and max sentence for a misdemeanor is up to 90 days in jail and/or up to a $1000. fine. Not much for what she's done...

Bless the man who took video footage of the horrifying things happening in Kathy Bauck' care or should I say lack of care. I am so glad it didn't take the jury long to decide that this woman and her actions are unacceptable and cruel. I hope her sentence is long enough for her to think about what she has done. I hope she will never own animals again!!!!!

I agree with Lin...Why can't something be done about these people. Her husband says he "gets rid of dogs" by shooting them. I would really like to put a few (okay maybe a lot) of bullets in him. How can anyone sanction what is going on in that place? It blows my mind that there is nothing anyone can do for these babies? There has to be something!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that dogs can be seized from puppymills in many other states with less laws on the books than we have, but we in MN can do absolutely nothing for the dogs at Pick of the Litter?
