And that’s a good thing!
Images of animals are enormously popular art subjects. Whether domestic, exotic, playful or wild and mysterious, abundant or endangered; we love to surround ourselves with two-dimensional furry, spotted, four-legged likenesses.
We have learned, perhaps far later than we should have, that exotic and wild creatures deserve the freedom of their natural environment. Images of tigers, cougars and jaguars connect us with their elusive beauty, while respecting their independence.
We also welcome the real thing into our homes. For many of us, companion animals become family members that enrich our lives beyond measure. We cannot imagine life without our beloved pets!
Sadly, not every dog or cat is fortunate enough to belong to a family; to have the security and comfort of a forever home. Far too many helpless animals are abused, neglected and abandoned. They exist through survival instincts, luck and intervention from caring humans.
The Animal Ark of Hastings has provided shelter, medical assistance, education,
training and fostering of unwanted pets for more than thirty years. It is the largest no-kill shelter in Minnesota, and a leading advocate of spay and neuter education and implementation, to stem pet over-population.
The Ark shelter relies totally upon donations to fund the rescue, rehabilitation, treatment, socialization and adoption of thousands of deserving animals. There is never enough money; always more starving, homeless dogs, cats and bunnies.
To recognize the enormous, meaningful contribution made by the Animal Ark, not only to the defenseless animals, but to society, the owner of Apropos Gallery in Burnsville has decided to donate the entire art gallery inventory to the Ark.
Thousands of quality decorative pieces; prints, limited editions, originals, framed and unframed, will be sold at clearance prices, with all net proceeds benefiting the Animal Ark. Prices will start at one-half retail and additional special promotions will be conducted during the month-long marketing event, including an on-line auction.
The Ark Art Auction – “Keep The Boat Afloat” and will run for two weekends, October 18 & 19 and November 15 & 16. Saturday hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sunday from 11:00 am – 5 pm.
The gallery is in the Colonial Ridge Shopping Center (west side), located at the intersection of Nicollet and McAndrews in Burnsville.
